(PRESS RELEASE) LEOMINSTER, MA – Chris Ploof, designer and founder of Chris Ploof Designs, announces the launch of his new “Precision Cut Precious” collection, featuring an initial assortment of high-quality rings and wedding bands in all precious metal, a distinct brand expansion for the designer who is known for hand-forged Damascus Steel and Mokume Gane, among other modern metals. The new collection of 14 pieces made its debut at a personal appearance in Minneapolis in early March 2024. The gender neutral designs can each be customized with a variety of options including metal combinations, sizes, widths, and gemstone additions. Current pricing ranges between $1,210 to $3,500, and the designer is planning to add diamonds (high quality precision melee, D-G color and VVS or better) in the near future. Ploof also plans to expand the assortment into other jewelry categories such as bracelets, earrings, and pendants soon.

“I have never been a fan of the thin gold bands in the marketplace, made in the cheapest way possible, and my team and I knew I could make something better,” said Ploof. “None of our new ‘Precision Cut Precious’ rings are cast. They are made from drawn tubing which is then machined. This allows me to very precisely manufacture these pieces that are heavier and higher quality than most of what is available on the marketplace. These solid, heavy, beautiful thick big rings will last a lifetime.”

The collection was originally inspired by a retail partner request to make wedding bands as a replacement for a respected European brand that went out of business. These rings are hand-made with very precise standards of manufacturing in Chris’s solar powered studio in central Massachusetts. The bands rival the quality of high-end European brands, but they are made here in America, meaning no delays for orders and/or sizing, as well as no import duties.

“For those seeking a really high quality precious metal band, nobody else is creating them with solar power and with such precise standards,” adds Ploof.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
