First Time in First Place: Sylvie Tops List of Best-Performing Brands for 2023, According to Big Survey
* Finished outside top 20 in 2022

THERE’S A NEW top dog in this year’s Big Survey for “best-performing brand”: Sylvie. The brand, known primarily for its bridal and wedding jewelry collection, has been creeping up our rankings for the past few years and finally conquered the competition, taking the No. 1 spot while edging out Allison-Kaufman by only two votes (64 votes vs. 62 votes). Gabriel & Co., a perennial favorite among retailers nationwide, was a comfortable 3rd with 54 votes. Stuller and Ostbye rounded out the top five with 40 votes and 30 votes, respectively. Results are based on the responses of 467 independent jewelry retailers to the question, “What are the three best-performing jewelry lines that you carry?”

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
