The sighting: Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez attended the recent LACMA Gala in a Gucci ensemble with Gucci jewels…including a truly jaw-dropping necklace.

The jewels: The spectacular necklace adorning Jenny from the Block’s decolletage is from Gucci’s Allegoria High Jewelry Collection, which is inspired by the changing of the seasons. According to Vogue, this specific necklace is inspired by the season of summer and features a spectacular 161 carat cushion cut pink tourmaline on a chain embellished with 72 tourmalines in graduated colors green to yellow to pink, before closing with a bow-shaped clasp embellished with diamonds.

I think there’s a possibility that JLo is wearing earrings from the same collection, but I can’t get a good look at them or find confirmation. She also appears to be wearing a cuff bracelet and ring: they’re hard to see, but they look like primarily diamonds in yellow gold rather than anything that carries on the remarkable colors of the necklace.

The trends: Vibrant colors, rainbow hues, and tourmaline are all elements of this design that are popular right now!

Wearing a statement necklace on a red carpet is in opposition to current trends – or perhaps it’s the start of a new trend? We’ll have to wait and see.

What do we think? YES, JLo, yes!!! This kind of dishwater beige dress is a huge red carpet pet peeve of mine (why choose beige when you have access to the best haute couture in the world?) but the necklace more than makes up for the dress’s lack of color.

This piece is just glorious. The color, the scale, the ombre chain!!! I’m swooning.

Judgement: 19/10 for a necklace that I will be seeing in my dreams.

What do YOU think?

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
