Judge the Jewels: Real Housewife Teresa Giudice Ties the Knot in a Tiara That’s as Extra as She Is

She said “I do” to her boyfriend, Luis Ruelas.

The sighting: Television personality Teresa Giudice, best known for her dramatic stint on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, has said “I do” to her boyfriend, Luis Ruelas. You absolutely must see the tiara that was the event’s crowning glory.

The jewels: The obvious showstopper here is Giudice’s custom crystal tiara by Bridal Styles Couture. It is a true behemoth of a sparkler, crowning a hairdo just as large and extravagant.

The bride is also wearing sheer pearl-adorned gloves, with a sparkling bracelet overtop on her right wrist, and large sparkly chandelier earrings. The bracelet and earrings could be either diamonds or crystal, but no designer has claimed them online, so they remain a mystery.

The trends: While I would absolutely love to tell you that this means bridal tiaras are back and you need to stock your showcases with them immediately (I adore tiaras), I think what we have here is mostly an outlier. It doesn’t feel especially fresh or modern or chic, and a quick scroll through the comments on Housewives fan accounts revealed that the online response to this look has not been especially positive.

There will be a few brides-to-be who see this and think “yes, that’s what I want!” but not many. For those few, though, I say rock on.

What do we think? I will admit to you right here that I have only ever watched one episode of any Real Housewives franchise, and it was the infamous 2009 Teresa Giudice table flip episode. I didn’t need to watch any more of the show, because I knew I had seen its pinnacle of ridiculousness and it would never be as perfect again.
That is also how I feel about this look. Yes, it is incredibly, overwhelmingly over the top. But isn’t that the whole point of this woman’s public persona? She knows who she is (and who we want her to be) and she plays that part with aplomb.

Judgement: 8/10 because yes, she looks a little ridiculous, but I would have been disappointed if she didn’t.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
