The ‘brainsquad’: all for one, one for all

AS INSTORE GROWS, more and more people around the industry are asking me how we have managed to get inside retailers’ heads to the extent we have.

My answer: INSTORE’S “Brain Squad” – a group of dedicated American jewelry retailers who complete short monthly surveys for us online. Surveys take only about ten minutes per month, and provide a ridiculously large amount of useful data for INSTORE. Even more important than the data is the insight we receive into jewelers’ minds. Your concerns, your stories, what makes you tick.

For all of you who have been with us from the beginning, and those who have joined along the way, I can only say “Thank you! You’re the best!” And for those of you who are not yet members, I really encourage you to join.

You’re probably asking “What’s in it for me?” Hey, I like where your head’s at. Here’s your answer:

A better INSTORE. Each new member we add makes our magazine stronger. How much more powerful and useful would these surveys be if we can boost our monthly response numbers up to 500, 1,000, or even more?

More useful information for you, as a member. After you complete each month’s survey, you can access all other retailers’ answers (with individual identities kept anonymous). It’s a great chance to learn, and get more ideas for your business than we could ever publish in INSTORE.

A little something to wear. Each new “Brain Squad” member receives a very cool (and very free) t-shirt to celebrate your panel membership.

Retiring? Let Wilkerson Do the Heavy Lifting

Retirement can be a great part of life. As Nanji Singadia puts it, “I want to retire and enjoy my life. I’m 78 now and I just want to take a break.” That said, Nanji decided that the best way to move ahead was to contact the experts at Wilkerson. He chose them because he knew that closing a store is a heavy lift. To maximize sales and move on to the next, best chapter of his life, he called Wilkerson—but not before asking his industry friends for their opinion. He found that Wilkerson was the company most recommended and says their professionalism, experience and the homework they did before the launch all helped to make his going out of business sale a success. “Wilkerson were working on the sale a month it took place,” he says. “They did a great job.”

After 139 Years, A Family Legacy Finds Its Perfect Exit With Wilkerson.

When third-generation jeweler Sam Sipe and his wife Laura decided to close Indianapolis’ historic J.C. Sipe Jewelers, they turned to Wilkerson to handle their retirement sale. “The conditions were right,” Sam explains of their decision to close the 139-year-old business. Wilkerson managed the entire going-out-of-business sale process, from marketing strategy to sales floor operations. “Our goal was to convert our paid inventory into retirement funds,” notes Sam. “The results exceeded expectations.” The Sipes’ advice for jewelers considering retirement? “Contact Wilkerson,” Laura says. “They’ll help you transition into retirement with confidence and financial security.”
