BODY CHAINS WERE a big thing in the 1960s and ’70s and then again in the ’90s, mostly seen on models in fashion shoots and women on European beaches. Later in the ’90s, a trend emerged toward a more simplified belly chain dipping down to the waist. These chains came in a variety of styles and/or with small gemstone stations. On vacation, Hailey Bieber recently donned a bezeled diamond body chain created by Jacquie Aiche. While on a yacht outside Barbados, she showed off the look, which also featured a bikini, a stylish hat, large sunglasses and multiple rings, on her Instagram feed. She was accompanied on the vacation by her husband, Justin Bieber, along with Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner.
Aiche is often inspired by looks of these earlier decades and has a rare knack for modernizing pieces with her recognizable design sensibility, which celebrities style-setters like Bieber are quick to pick up on. We have seen many of her inlay pieces, talisman pendants and layers of necklaces pop up on A-listers.

Many of Bieber’s choices in fashion and jewelry have been written about in celebrity and women’s interest magazines, which have inspired fans and young women to imitate her styles. And, while Aiche’s body chain is one of the chicest I have seen in a while, I am wondering how many women can integrate it into their jewelry wardrobes and if they can pull it off as effortlessly as Bieber.
