Accutron & RedBar Group Unveil Limited Edition Spaceview 2020 Watch

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Accutron and RedBar Group join together to celebrate horology and the watch brand’s groundbreaking success of the world’s first-ever electrostatic movement. Building on the popularity of Accutron’s new Spaceview 2020 design, which marked the brand’s official return, the two unveil a Limited Edition version inspired by the collector community.

Reborn with the same passion for innovation and groundbreaking technology, Accutron recaptures its legacy as one of the most important innovators in timekeeping history. First unveiled in 1960 to universal acclaim, Accutron, known as the world’s first fully electronic watch has taken on the challenge to once again revolutionize time. Accutron’s design & engineering team based in Tokyo worked from the inside out to create Accutron’s all-new and proprietary next-generation electrostatic energy movement. Representing something rare in modern watchmaking, this electrostatic drive technology is a first.

The electrostatic energy of the movement is created by twin turbines that rotate as a result of human motion at incredible speeds between two electrodes affixed to the movement. The energy, stored in an accumulator, powers two motors; a world’s first electrostatic motor fueling the fluid second hand and a step motor powering the hour and minute hands. Both motors are synchronized through integrated circuits to provide accuracy to +/- 5 seconds a month.

Recreating the stunning visual impact of the original open dial design, Accutron commemorates the original Spaceview’s place in avant-garde timepiece history. Born in an era of unparalleled risk-taking, the 1960s Accutron Spaceview was a landmark achievement and immediate sensation. By deconstructing the design of the outer case and exposing the state-of-the-art tuning fork movement, it transformed into the purest example of design integrity and technical excellence. Over time, it became an iconic masterpiece.

Accutron and RedBar Group are proud to release a Limited Edition Spaceview 2020 watch featuring a 43.5mm polished stainless steel case with smoke grey open-work dial and signature RedBar red accents and transparent outer ring, light green super luminous markers, hour and minute hands and matching red second hand. Including domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal, water resistance to 50m and a special collaborative case back, the new timepiece is made available on a stainless steel bracelet, but also accompanied by an additional black leather strap featuring RedBar red stitching and matching leather underside. Limited to 60 pieces, the watch is available for $4,200.

“We are proud to continue our longstanding relationship with the RedBar Group and create something dedicated to the watch collecting community,” says Jeffrey Cohen, president of Citizen Watch America.

“There is no better design than the Spaceview 2020, which draws inspiration from Accutron’s culturally iconic vintage Spaceview.”

“The Accutron Spaceview 2020 is one of the most interesting watches around,” says Kathleen McGivney CEO, RedBar Group. “The electrostatic movement is unique and watching the twin turbines rotate is mesmerizing. There’s a lot of love for Accutron within the RedBar collector community, and we’re absolutely thrilled to put our own mark on the Spaceview 2020 with this collaborative Limited Edition.”

The new Spaceview 2020 x RedBar Group Limited Edition timepiece is now available for purchase here. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Jewelers for Children.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
