(PRESS RELEASE) On October 4th through 6th, 2021, CBG hosted its fall retreat at the JW Marriott Water Street in Tampa, Florida. The brand-new format gave CBG members the opportunity to re-connect, re-unite and re-charge with one another after being apart a year and a half. CBG owners and power duo Andie Weinman and Joe Murphy are confident that the retreat and show combination will allow Continental Buying Group to become even bigger and stronger.

The first day of the CBG retreat began by re-connecting CBG retailers and suppliers at a seated breakfast. The assigned seating brought together CBG members to share top trends, industry news, ideas and success stories. The seated breakfasts continued each morning, where each member was seated with someone different from the day before. This gave both CBG retailers and suppliers the opportunity to open new doors and create industry relationships. It was the perfect way to kick off each day of buying.

After breakfast on day 2, CBG hosted a retailer and supplier panel discussion facilitated by emcee Joel Zeff and CBG’s Joe Murphy. CBG continued re-uniting its members throughout the day with an incredible and interactive seated lunch. The cherry on top was ending a long day of education and jewelry buying with a CBG cocktail party. The networking opportunities throughout the show were endless.

The last day of the CBG Tampa retreat may have been the best. CBG surprised its members with a re-charging Powerumba™ class and mimosa toast event during the last seated breakfast. The CBG members put their dancing shoes on for one last hurrah before returning to the showroom floor for one final day of buying. The energy was off the charts.

Even after a hard year and a half, the Continental Buying Group members, retailers and suppliers alike came together to share, inspire and work together to achieve success. This retreat proved why everyone refers to CBG as a family.

CBG is currently looking to add a few more retailers to make its family complete. If you’re a retailer in the list of open territories below and are interested in becoming a CBG retailer, please call the CBG office at (305) 868-9004 or email joe@cbgi.org. CBG is looking forward to hearing from you and welcoming some new family members to the group. The next CBG show will be on January 16th-20th, 2022 at the Hyatt Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
