The sighting: Model Bella Hadid recently attended the American Performance Horseman competition to cheer on her boyfriend, Adan Banuelos. Hadid fully embraced country style for the occasion, in a Western hat, leather pants and plenty of chunky jewelry.

The jewels: The star of the show here was Hadid’s statement necklace, a striking silver and turquoise pendant strung on a leather cord or a black ribbon.

The blog StarStyle credited Hadid’s necklace as a “Navajo Pilot Mountain Necklace,” and some Google sleuthing led me to this sold listing on NativoArts for a sold-out vintage Navajo pilot mountain necklace, which is listed for $1,899.95 but on sale for $427.

I don’t know whether this is the exact piece that Hadid wore, but it certainly looks like it! The model also rocked a cuff bracelet and an assortment of chunky rings in both gold and silver.

The trends: This look happened after Beyonce announced Country Carter but before the album dropped, so I think this is proof that Hadid was an early adopter of the burgeoning craze for country styles.

Yes, this was a rodeo. But Hadid could easily have accessorized her outfit with a dainty gold necklace stack or something more like her usual style. I think the fact that she chose to go full country instead is telling.

It’s also worth noting the substance of the jewelry here: Everything’s bold and solid, with no daintiness or delicacy.

What do we think? This is a really cool necklace with great presence, and I love that Hadid chose to wear both gold and silver rings with it. Mixed metals forever!

Judgement: 11/10 for a very cool country moment.

Wilkerson Testimonials

Cleaning House for a New Generation

At Komara Jewelers in Canfield, Ohio, Wilkerson handled all the aspects of its retirement sale just as owner Bob Komara’s children took over day-to-day operations of the business. They’d used other companies before, says Brianna Komara-Pridon, but they didn’t compare. “If we had used Wilkerson then, it would have been so much better.”
