The sighting: Actor and renowned muscle man Dwayne Johnson, better known as “The Rock,” almost always wears a gold pendant necklace. But when he stepped out for his Mexico City appearance of the Black Adam World Tour, something about his usual gold chain was different.

The jewels: The Rock has upgraded his typical no-frills gold chain to NYC jewelry brand Foundrae’s gold belcher extension necklace. It’s a gorgeous, thick chain with a straight piece suspending a circular gold medallion.

My first question when I saw it was: is this a personal collection piece on a new chain, or a completely new piece? It is the right size and shape to be a Foundrae charm – perhaps the brand’s “strength” charm, which features a lion?

The Rock definitely already owns other gold medallion charms, because he wears them all the time. I should know, because I have spent the past hour looking at photos of this man’s upper chest. Trying to see the necklace, of course. For professional research reasons.

Eventually I decided to stop ogling – I mean researching – and reach out to Foundrae to see if they’d solve the mystery for me. The brand has now confirmed the The
Rock is rocking their Heavy Mixed Belcher Extension Chain with the Medium Karma Medallion. The Foundrae Karma Medallion features a figure 8 motif and, according to the brand’s website, is meant for “Reminding us that every day is a new day to grow inwardly by seeking truth and enlightenment.”

The trends: Everything here is on trend: high-end gold chains, gold medallions, Foundrae on celebs, men in jewelry!

What do we think? I love that this isn’t a typical chain. Choosing to wear a single gold chain or a gold chain with a single charm isn’t uncommon for this category of macho Hollywood celebrity, but choosing a designer chain with an atypical design is more noteworthy – especially since he also went for a medallion with a thoughtful, contemplative meaning. Surprises all around!

Judgement: 15/10 for a gorgeous and unexpected choice.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
