The sighting: Actress and singer Zendaya has a new personal piece of jewelry! The style icon revealed her latest treasure last week and it’s utterly gorgeous. Let’s take a look.

The jewels: This lovely necklace is by Darius Jewels. It’s a handmade piece in 18K yellow gold with blue sapphires (10.09 TCW) and antique old mine cut diamonds (4.92 TCW).

Darius Jewels’ Diamond Signature Chain, the design that Zendaya’s custom piece is based on, features old mine cut diamonds in 18K yellow gold and is currently available for special order through the designer’s website for $32,780.

The trends: This lovely piece is enough like a tennis necklace to fit into that still very hot trend, but this is a timeless piece of jewelry. Zendaya will be able to wear it forever.

What do we think? In my humble opinion, this is exactly the kind of piece that a fabulously wealthy and famous 26-year-old should be buying for herself. It’s beautiful and classy but not boring. The sapphires add a wonderful touch of color to the old mine cut diamonds’ sparkle and the buttery 18K yellow gold provides the perfect foil to both. And the choice for a high-profile celeb to support a small artisanal brand rather than a huge, faceless big-name company? That’s the cherry on top of this very delicious jewelry sundae.

If Zendaya had texted me to ask me my thoughts about this purchase, I would have given her an enthusiastic green light. Yes, Zendaya, yes!

Judgement: 17/10 for a truly gorgeous and interesting personal piece.
