  • Rolex timepieces are still strong. In fashion, John Hardy had a great month. Engagement rings rounded out our best category for January. — Tonia Ulsh, Mountz Jewelers, Camp Hill, PA
  • Customers have been coming in for wedding bands … lots of custom bands to make. We’ll take it! — Mary Jo Chanski, Hannoush Jewelers, Rutland, VT
  • Repairs and custom drove our sales for January. It seems like everything needs to be customized now so that it makes it personal and sentimental! — Annette Kinzie, Leonard Jewelry, Stillwater, OK
  • Surprisingly, pearls were the stars in January. I am seeing a return to the classic pearl choker with a simple diamond clasp. I have noticed clients being more knowledgeable, looking for ocean pearls vs. freshwater ones, white satin lined boxes for storage. One even checked every knot to be satisfied they were uniform. All things I typically lecture about, but lo and behold, most already knew what to do! I am liking these new knowledgeable clients; it makes sales so much easier. — James Doggett, Doggett Jewelry, Kingston, NH

  • With bad weather days, custom is keeping us going. Podium allows us to reach out to customers from our store phone numbers. Color is making more of a dent in our stores, not one specific color either, both precious and semi-precious. Slate and Tell does well for lower price point. Aspire is a great line by Berco for the price point. — Julee Johnson, Julee’s Jewelry, Mankato, MN
  • Antique and estate jewelry … particularly Victorian rings! — Patty Gallun Hansen, Dorothy Gallun Fine Jewelry, Cedarburg, WI
  • Custom jobs and bridal carried our month. We use Bellissima by Gemsone, and it’s streamlined our custom and made it much easier for the entire staff to sell custom. — Robert Mullen, Mullen Bros. Jewelers, Swanswa, MA
  • Rolex, Hamilton watches and Birks were our top three. — Rhonda Neary, Diamond Design, St. John’s, NL
  • Repairs were our top money take-in. We will be ordering more gold jewelry since we are expanding our case space for it. — Craig C. Curtis, Belfast Jewelry, Belfast, ME

Wilkerson Testimonials

When Liquidation Is the Best Option, This Legendary Jeweler Chose Wilkerson

George Koueiter & Sons Jewelers, a 65-year old jewelry institution in Grosse Pointe, MI, had always been a mainstay in this suburban Detroit community. But when owners George and Paul Koueiter were ready to retire, they made the decision to close rather than sell. “We decided our best option to do the liquidation sale was Wilkerson,” says Paul Koueiter. The results, says George Koueiter, exceeded expectations and the process was easy. “Wilkerson just kept us in mind,” says George. “They never did anything without asking and whatever they asked us to do was just spot on.”
